Almost every car manufacturer on the planet has pledged to be producing only electric vehicles by the year 2030. This means the demand for cobalt for batteries will soon be greater than the world is able to supply. Which is why the world needs the Cobalt Blue mine in Broken Hill. When fully operational, the mine in will be one of the largest sources of ethical cobalt in the world – enough to into the batteries of over 5 million EVs.

 Our client gave us the challenge of creating a video piece that told that story. The thing is, the mine is at a very early stage of construction. Most of the major infrastructure is yet to come and there is little see of the operation at this point. So, we decided to tell the Cobalt Blue story in the realm of 3D animation. That way, we could combine what is on the ground happening right now, with a vision of the cobalt driven future.

 While the primary objective of the video is to attract potential investors, the film was shown to an audience of Broken Hill residents and dignitaries at a town meeting – and received a standing ovation.
